The sale of Andean products through the Sierra Exportadora program reached about US$201.8 million in 2014, announced the institution attached to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Sierra Exportadora (Exporting Sierra) is a government-run program, which promotes economic activities -originated in the Peruvian Andes- in order to enable producers attach themselves to national and international markets.
The amount reached last year represents an increase worth 78% compared to its similar period of 2013.
The leading regions are: Junin, Ancash, Apurimac, Puno, Cusco, Arequipa and Huanuco.
Likewise, the program exports totaled US$106 million.
In the sense, the Sierra Exportadora benefited 78,000 people through the different programs it promotes in Peru.
It must be noted the organization increase sales by 416% in a period set between 2012 and 2014.
